Ballymun Regional Youth Resource (BRYR), is a vibrant Youth Work organisation working with 10-24 year old's in Ballymun, Dublin. Our aim is to empower young people from Ballymun & surrounding areas to reach their full potential. We put in place a range of resources that will support them to make a happy, healthy and successful transition to adulthood. We seek to promote health, well- being and resilience at all stages of their development.

What's Involved

We are looking for people who enjoy working with young people and who have experience of teaching Dance to young people.

Your role will be to engage with and bring dance to young people who are attending a drop in night. There is no specific dance group. The young people will be aged 13 and 14 yrs and 15yrs+.

There will be a Youth Workers supervising the space and the Dance volunteer will contribute with their skills and expertise.

There is no set plan as the programme will vary according to the needs and interests of the young people who are attending the drop in that night.

What's required for this position

Your dance experience needs to be at a mid-level ability, high enough to be able to teach and bring your dance to the young people.
We are open all any kind of dance skill. Top skill types are hip hop, jazz, tap, ballet, contemporary etc

Other desirable skills include:
a) an ability to engage with young people aged 10-24yrs of age- good interpersonal skills
b)good active listening skills
c) knowledge of /empathy with the issues young people face in their lives
d) knowledge of the dynamic of the Ballymun community
e) suitable qualities include empathy, patience, supportiveness, motivation; an upbeat and enthusiastic attitude; being dependable, adaptable, honest. able to 'work from where the young person is at'.
