About Ozanam House Community Resource Centre
Ozanam House is a community project operated by the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul, working directly with people in need through an action-oriented programme, attempting to effect positive change through social justice. Our work primarily involves person-to-person contact. Throughout the year we run childcare, youth, adult education and community programmes.
What's Involved
We are looking for an enthusiastic and responsible caretaker to cover the afternoon shift to help us ensure the smooth functioning of the centre. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to our community development!
The tasks included:
• Room Schedules:
Clearing and Preparing rooms as required in the Community Resource centre. Throughout the day, we run classes in every room in the centre. We also host community events and meetings. This continues into the evening with an evening schedule of classes and events and there is a need to change rooms around from one event in preparation for the next.
• General Maintenance:
Day to day troubleshooting in all areas of carpentry, electrics and plumbing and general care of the building. This will also involve maintaining all areas as defined through the red book system in place. This will involve sourcing three quotes for any work required by service agents and presenting them for approval as well as overseeing the work to be done.
• Fixtures and Fittings:
In liaison with the am caretaker cleaning the light fittings and any other fixtures twice annually or as otherwise required
• Store room:
Maintaining and looking after Bethlehem store room
• General Support:
Supporting front of house administration and reception when/where required
• General care:
General care of the building as defined by management
What's required for this position
Experience:
1) Experience of working in an environment where the focus is organisation, control and planning
2) Experience of dealing directly with the public
3) Experience of working within the community sector would be an advantage but not necessary, as training will be provided.
Knowledge, Skills and Aptitudes:
1) Good organisation, communication and interpersonal skills, being in a position to interact with the public in an appropriate manner
2) Good ability to work on his/her own initiative
3) An understanding and interest in community development and social inclusion issues
4) A team worker with an ability to prioritise tasks and to work well under pressure
Disposition:
1) Flexible and enthusiastic
2) Enjoy being part of a progressive and energetic team
Level of English required for this role:
Intermediate English
Minimum time commitment: 6 months
Hours required: 2hrs Weekly
