2023 Climate Ambassador

Climate Ambassador Programme

About Climate Ambassador Programme

The Climate Ambassador programme raises awareness about climate change and enables volunteers to take action, share their experiences and meet like-minded people, while taking part in worthwhile events and having some fun. The programme is co-ordinated by the Environmental Education Unit of An Taisce with support from the Department of Communication, Climate Action and Environment.

What's Involved

The Climate Ambassador Programme are delighted to announce that applications for 2023 are open!

Climate change effects can be felt here and now, at a local, national and global scale. Becoming a Climate Ambassador will give you the opportunity and platform to do something really positive within your community and our Climate Action Officers look forward to working with you on this exciting programme!

We are looking for interested and enthusiastic people who want to make a difference in their own lives and of those around them. If you would like to try imperfectly, to play your part, then we want to hear from you!

Volunteers will be trained in climate change information and communications.

They will be asked to:
1. Carry out two acts of climate communication, which can be to give a presentation (training provided), write an article, create a related artistic piece/event, organise a climate conversation with family/friends etc.
2. Also, carry out two climate actions, e.g. organise your canteen to go single-use plastic-free, set up a community garden, green your local festival, encourage the community to reduce emissions etc.

Support & Training
This opportunity can help you figure out what you can do to take meaningful action and make positive changes. There will be full ongoing training and support from our Climate Action Officers and links in with our national network of inspiring, diverse and active Climate Ambassador individuals. We celebrate volunteers at the end of the year with a celebratory event and awards ceremony.

Applicants
Applications are open to secondary and third level students and community members over 18 years of age. We are proud to have people from all backgrounds – including teachers, engineers, farmers, artists, entrepreneurs, SME’s, retirees and many more besides.
