About Irish Cancer Society
The Irish Cancer Society is the national charity dedicated to preventing cancer, saving lives from cancer and improving the quality of life of those living with cancer through patient care, research and education. The main work of the Society is the delivery of nursing services to patients with cancer throughout Ireland, including funding hospital based Oncology Liaison Nurses, community based Night Nursing for patients in their home, and Home Care Nursing teams. The Society also operates a FreeFone Cancer Helpline, staffed by fully qualified nurses, and is the largest single voluntary supporter of cancer research in Ireland.
What's Involved
We are looking for volunteers to sell daffodils in their local community on March 22nd. With every daffodil sold, you are funding Researchers, Nurses and Volunteers across Ireland, and relieving worries and providing free support to cancer patients and their families.
To co-ordinate the sale of daffodils in your local community you need to:
• Commit to organising a whole day of selling daffodils outside a shop in your local area on March 22nd
• Source volunteers to help with the sale of the daffodils. These can be your family, friends, colleagues, local school etc
• Order the stock you require for your sales and hold onto until Daffodil Day
We particularly need volunteers in the following areas:
• Dublin 11 – Finglas, Charlestown and Ballymun
• Dublin 7 - Stoneybatter
• Dublin 9
• Dublin 15 – Mulluddart, Ongar, Tyrrelstown and Ashtown
What's required for this position
Volunteers will need to have organisational and time management skills and be good with people.
