Befrienders Dublin is an organisation offering one-to-one companionship and support to those who have mental health difficulties. The aim of the service is to foster independence, self-empowerment and reduce the social isolation felt by those with mental health difficulties.

What's Involved

Befrienders Dublin are looking for volunteers to run Social clubs for People with Mental Health Difficulties in the following areas:

- Coolock every Tuesday evening from 6.00pm to 8.15pm
- Finglas every Wednesday evening from 6.30pm to 8.30pm
- Blanchardstown Thursday evening from 6.30pm to 8.30pm

The club facilitators will buy provisions for club, open up the club venue, welcome members to the club and offer refreshments to them. Prepare activities such as Karaoke, Bingo, Quiz, Movies etc. and make sure everyone can participate or assist them to do so. Interact with members and help them get involved. They will facilitate activities and tidy up the venue after the club. They will make sure all members sign in and send weekly attendance to the office.

All volunteers will be required to be Garda Vetted and also supply two references. We will have a training course for volunteers in October and we will let you know the dates on receipt of the application.

Outgoing, open, caring with a genuine willingness to be of help. Have leadership qualities and respect professional boundaries.

Our three club locations are Blanchardstown (D15 HE30), Finglas (D11 Y4XF), and Coolock (D05 N765).
