About Fleadh Cheoil na hEireann Droichead Atha
Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann is the world’s largest annual celebration of Irish music, language, song and dance.
For many, it is the culmination of months of hard work and practice as they compete against fellow musicians, singers and dancers to achieve the recognition of being an All-Ireland champion. For others it is a unique and welcoming festival featuring the best of traditional arts and offering a wide range of activities to be enjoyed by all.
What's Involved
Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann is coming to Drogheda and we want to make it the best one yet.
Get involved in the biggest celebration of traditional Irish music and culture in the world and 'Be The Fleadh' by volunteering a few hours of your time. Volunteer shifts are from 4 to 8 hours long. You can do one shift or many, it's up to you! The Fleadh is on from the 11th to the 18th August so lots of opportunities for you to volunteer
Volunteers will support activity in the following areas;
Giving information to visitors
Stewarding
Green Fleadh
Venues (Competitions/Concerts)
Seachtain na Gaeilge
Volunteer Hub
Training and refreshments will be provided to all volunteers
What's required for this position
Skills vary based on role, and there is a role for people of all abilities. Examples of skills that may be required include;
Communication skills – Able to give clear and concise directions to the public
Patience – Be confident and calm when dealing with the public
Personable Skills - Enjoy meeting people, enthusiastic, friendly and outgoing
Confidence – Be comfortable in big crowds
Teamwork – work as members of a team
Physical - In some specific roles the ability to stand and walk for extended periods may be required
Reliable – Remain at designated area
