Chester Beatty Library works to maintain and preserve the collections of the Library and to make them available in the most appropriate ways for the use and enjoyment of the public and for scholarly study and research, in order to promote a wider appreciation and understanding of the international cultural heritage embodied in the collections and to foster relations between Ireland and the peoples whose cultures are represented in the collections.

What's Involved

We are seeking Weekend Retail Assistants in our shop on the ground floor of the Chester Beatty Library. You will greet and provide service to customers and visitors alike. This is a great opportunity to volunteer in one of Dublin's wonderful museums.

Role will include:

  • To have the ability to use EPOS (computerised Till - cash register)
  • To keep the store tidy and clean including cleaning the shelves, counter area and the storage area.
  • To replenish items - Stocking shelves with the merchandise.
  • To receive the delivery and check the contents against the invoice/delivery note.
  • To enter delivery on the stock system, label a price tag using pricing gun.
  • To answer any queries from customers.
  • To refer to a member of staff for customer orders in person and over the phone.
  • To assist a member of staff with putting purchased goods in the bags, wrapping goods, asking where they live, etc.

    What's required for this position

  • Eligible to work in Ireland
  • Any customer service experience
  • Good interpersonal negotiation and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrate flexibility, reliability and ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and on your own initiative
  • Available to work at the weekend, e.g. two weekend days per month (One Saturday and one Sunday, etc.)

    Level of English required for this role:
    Intermediate English
